A) Horse Chestnuts Extract

Horse chestnut extract has been known to be one of the effective piles natural remedies in Europe. 

It contains aescin, the active ingredient which is believed to improve vein elasticity, reduce inflammation, vein tone, strengthen vein walls, treat varicose veins, alleviate the swelling and improve fluid retention by close the small pores in the wall of veins.  

However, it is should not be taken internally due to tannins in the raw nuts which can increase constipation.

In order to use it, you have to learn how to make an ointment from it and apply it to your hemorrhoids. 

Some patients use it in the form of suppositories for piles treatment.

Method in making ointment

Take 7 pieces of horse chestnuts and remove off their shells. Carefully, chop the nutmeats into very fine pieces. 

Place the nuts with lard and warm it steadily for an hour. Cool it off and apply it to the hemorrhoids area 2 times a day.

Alternatively, you can add a teaspoon of dried horse chestnut seeds to a cup of boiling water and simmer for 15 minutes. 

Let it cool off. Use a piece of clean gauze to soak in this solution and apply it to the affected area. 

(Warning! This is for external application only, not for internal consumption as eating raw horse chestnut seeds can cause symptoms of gastroenteritis, reddening of skin and drowsiness)

B) Aloe vera extract

Aloe vera has the cooling and soothing properties like aspirin which make it suitable in treating hemorrhoids.  

Its extract has a natural laxative which can relieve constipation and subsequently reduce any friction with hemorrhoids. 

It also has the astringent properties which aids in piles treatment.

Method of making aloe vera extract

Cold soaks aloe vera leaf and break the leaf later. Compress the leaf to generate the extract. 

Instead, you can scoop the gel from the opened leaf and apply it directly to the pile's area.

C) Ginger and mint mixture

Some claim it is effective in relieving hemorrhoids pain.

Take a half-teaspoon of fresh lime juice, fresh ginger juice, and mint leaves. 

Combine them with a tablespoon of honey and mix them well before applying it on the piles daily.

D) Apple Cider Vinegar

This is one of the safest remedies for hemorrhoids and also effective for bleeding hemorrhoids.


Soak a cotton ball with some apple cider vinegar and apply it on the piles area for a few minutes. 

Repeat this application several times a day. Alternatively, you can use it for your warm sitz bath by soaking the anal for 15 minutes daily basis.

For bleeding piles, consume 2 teaspoons of apple vinegar in a glass of water after every meal and your hemorrhoids will stop bleeding.

E) Garlic suppository

This homemade garlic suppository is for emergency use and should be used sparingly as it can irritate the skin.


Choose a medium-size clove of garlic, peel it and cut the surface of it and insert it in the rectum after your bowel movement.

Maintain it in the position as long as possible. Just before bedtime, you may want to replace it with another clove in order to hasten the shrinking of the piles.

F) Oak bark tincture

Oak bark is popular for its astringent property which helps to tighten and shrink tissue like hemorrhoids.


Use 30-50 drops of oak bark tincture. It may be taken up to 3 times a day but does not exceed 3 days.

G) Psyllium

Studies have shown psyllium can considerably reduce piles of pain, bleeding or itching. It is also a good fiber supplement that is needed for piles patients.


Consume psyllium seeds by adding 3 teaspoons or 5 grams to your favorite beverages (10 ounces) and consume 3 times daily. 

Do remember to drink at least 8-ounce of water after intake of psyllium. 

Alternatively, you can try commercial products like Fiber all and Metamucil which contain psyllium.

H) Butcher’s broom

Butcher’s broom active ingredient, ruscogenins helps to strengthen tissues, tighten veins and also reduce inflammation of piles tissue.


It can be taken internally and externally as a suppository or topical application.

I) Raw potato or red potato

You may find it strange but many have found positive results using this remedy.


Cut the raw potato into a cigar-shaped and insert it into the anus as a suppository overnight. You may want to lubricate it with some oil. 

Do not remove it the next day, as it will come out automatically during your bowel movement. Repeat this procedure for 3 nights and you can see the miracle result.

J) Hemorrhoid tea

A specially made tea can help to relieve the discomfort of piles.


Boil 1 quart of water with 1 teaspoon of self-heal herb, 1 teaspoon of evening primrose and 1 teaspoon of peppermint leaves in a non-metallic container till the solution is reduced to 2 cups. Strain it and drink 2 a day.

K) Hemorrhoid wash

A specially made concoction for wash which can help to relieve the discomfort of piles.

Boil 2 cups of water with 1 teaspoon of blackberry leaves, 1 teaspoon of witch hazel leaves and 1 teaspoon of mullein in a non-metallic container for 30 minutes. 

Let it cool down and strain it. Use the solution as a wash for the hemorrhoids area on a daily basis.

L) Olive oil

Olive oil has anti-inflammatory properties in it which make it important in treating hemorrhoids.


Take some toilet paper and pour some olive oil on it. Apply on the affected areas and soon your pain will disappear. 

Warning! You should not use olive oil if you have allergic to it.

M) Gallnuts

Gallnuts is a plant secretion generated when it is irritated by larvae of gall insects, eg, wasp. 

One of the active ingredients in this secretion is tannin, which is astringent and useful for treating bleeding hemorrhoids.


Powdered gallnuts is used as a topical application or ointment on the hemorrhoids area.  

There was a research of injecting preparation gallnut into hemorrhoids area of patients with hemorrhoids Stage 3 and 4, with great success. (99% were cured). 

It is a great alternative treatment without surgery for Stage 3 & 4 hemorrhoids patients who may subject to surgical removal of their hemorrhoids if other treatments failed.

N) Witch hazel

Witch hazel is very popular for treating hemorrhoids due to its astringent properties. 

Known as Hamamelis, a native American plant also famous for its anti-inflammatory properties.


Soak a cotton ball with some witch hazel which can be bought from local pharmacies and apply on the affected area 3 times a day to shrink swollen vein. 

It also can be used for a sitz bath by adding 1 ounce into water for bathing. Other forms of witch hazel are ointment, liquid, and suppositories.

Warning of using witch hazel, since it comes in an alcohol solution thus may bite.

O) Mango seeds

Mango seeds are one of the miracles of piles natural remedies that can cure bleeding piles.


Collect mangoes during its season. Dried the mango seeds and powdered them. Use 1.5 grams of the mango powder into your favorite beverage and drink daily.
